Pacific Coast Highway at Morro Bay Beach State Park - Morro Bay, California

This painting was done during my van tour of the California Coast in 2021. This Central Coast destination is home of this iconic “rock”, which is described as a volcanic plug. What I love most about the California Coast, besides the obvious beauty of the ocean as it meets our mountainous West Coast, is its accessibility to the public. Here, the PCH (Route 1) is on the left side of the scene. As it makes its way along the coast, there are times when it dramatically abutts right to the ocean below! This area I painted from is just one of too many vantage points where one can pull off the road and take it all in.
